Building Safe and Respectful Cultures in Disability Services for People with Disability

This Building Safe and Respectful Cultures pilot project aimed to learn more about the culture of services for people with disability and identify some practical approaches that might be both useful now and relevant for future development.

VALID Employment Project

Employing people with intellectual disability is a good idea and can make work better for everyone. We all bring new ideas and perspectives to the workplace.

VALID8 Pilot Project

The VALID8 tool started as a self-audit for Disability Services. This audit was designed to help these services learn whether they were doing what they could to empower people with intellectual disability to live their own lives. It was also a way services could define and develop best practice to help empower people they support.

Your Service, Your Rights

In 2020-2021, NSW Council for Intellectual Disability (CID) and South Australian Council for Intellectual Disability (SACID) developed resources about the rights of people with an intellectual disability in services. They also delivered workshops for people with an intellectual disability and NDIS providers in NSW and South Australia. In 2021 the NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission asked Inclusion Australia to roll out the resources and workshops nationally.

Supported Discussions Project

The project was initiated by an Australian Government Department of Social Services grant to deliver a project in 2023-24 relating to Australia’s Disability Strategy and Safety Targeted Action Plan.

Healthy Discussions Project

Healthy Discussions: Supporting people with disability to make and communicate health decisions, is a project initiated by an Information, Linkages and Capacity Building (Mainstream Capacity Building) Grant from the Australian Government Department of Social Services.
